Madison County is rich with wild game hunting, and Ennis is in the center of it all. It’s our favorite time of year! It’s a time of coming together, to recreate and to harvest. With Montana being known for its variety of game species and hunting opportunities, if you love to hunt, Ennis is the place to be.
The Madison-Bear Creek Wildlife Management Area provides year-round habitat for wildlife and its goal is to offer a variety of public outdoor recreational opportunities including hunting, fishing, and wildlife viewing.
From the Madison-Bear Creek Wildlife Management Area website – hunting opportunities include: Archery and gun seasons for elk and deer (see regulations for details), black bear, and grouse are open to licensed hunters. Late-season antlerless elk hunts (permit required) extend through the end of January. Permits are also required for mountain goat and moose hunting.
It is essential to plan your hunt and make sure that you have the proper permits and licenses. See links below to find all hunting information at the Montana, Fish, Wildlife & Parks website.
